Description/Job Summary
The Surveillance organization is the group chartered with overall network operational availability and SEII's will responsible for creating reports to document those numbers. The role of Surveillance Engineer II (Mid) will be to take on all advanced issues and act as an escalation point for issues not resolved by SE I's. Further the role is to include the assistance of the Manager in the creation of ITIL SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures). This position will act as the liaison to all outside support organization, Tech Ops, NTE, so that any addition or change to network architecture is supportable by existing people, process and systems.
Responsibilities/Duties
1. The ability to provide advanced troubleshooting and analytical skills in support of the Data Network.
2. The ability to handle multiple incidents and or projects without supervision
3. Using the tools available monitor mission critical networks real time and react to events that are of design in nature, through direct intervention or escalation to support Engineering.
4. Ability to drive towards the network availability standards set by management
5. Proven ability to work individually or as a project (lead) manager
6. Must have the ability to lead, train, coach mentor team in technical and professional matters
7. Ability to create ITIL based written process / procedure documentation
8. Must have excellent customer service skills and the ability to deal with customers / management during times of high pressure
9. Self motivated problem solver with experience in identifying issues and working problems through to resolution
10. Preferred CCNP or equal experience in related field - 8 years plus
11. Provide central escalation point with Telco on chronic or major issues
12. Create and maintain documentation for technical procedures for established systems.
13. Proven trouble shooting skills in the areas of switches / routers, wireless AP's, Cisco IPT, QOS, MPLS, DMVPN, Riverbed and Solarwinds Orion.
Required Experience
This is a mid to senior level technical position. The related experience preferred is: 3- 7 years of data communications and telecommunications plus PC troubleshooting and networking knowledge. Must have excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills. With the ability to work as a team player in a demanding environment.
Required Education
Bachelors in IT, business or technical field or 7 years equivalent experience. Industry recognized advanced technical certification (such as CCNA, CCNP, CCDP) .
